What is BSAS?
The Be Smart About Safety Program (BSAS) provides loss prevention and mitigation funding for the University of California, Riverside through the UC system. Annual insurance premiums include an allocation to fund proactive loss prevention and mitigation projects at all UC campuses and medical centers. BSAS funding is intended for projects with the specific purpose of reducing the frequency and/or severity of potential loss in the insurance program areas of general liability, employment liability, auto, property, workers' compensation, and professional liability. Loss prevention focuses on proactive measures. Loss frequency is controlled by focusing on the cause of loss. Loss of severity is reduced by focusing on the effects of the loss.
